ILCA North American 2021: Training - Day One
- By Namkhai
First day on the water!

I'm sure you recognize one of San Francisco's most famous architecture.
We were out around 11:30 A.M., taking a first contact with San Francisco's cold water.
I'm not kidding, I had to put on my hydrophobic lycra AND a windbreaker. And I still had my fingers and face uncovered, which wasn't comfortable at all.
But it was still fun to sail in this wind.
San Francisco's bay has a very strong current. The wind is quite steady, with only some wind bend along the coast. The waves weren't very big, although we had a flood tide, so the current wasn't fighting against the wind. I expect higher waves next week.

There weren't that many Lasers sailing today, about a dozen or so max. They were all from USA, althogh we crossed three boats from Caiman Islands when coming back to shore.
Overall I think it's been a very good first day. We're looking forward to go out tomorrow again, work more on the current...
And get used to the cold!

If you don't recognize this building, I give you a clue: The name starts with 'A' and ends with 'Z'. Some of the worst criminals were sent there.
